Puffy vs. Jiffy
Does everyone remember how Puffy and Jiffy used to be so sweet together:
and then they had a falling out when Jiffy reached teenagehood. They now EACH resides with TWO ladies of their own. Lucky men.
The other day, I decided to see whether their aversion towards eachother have eased at all, after all these months. Check this out:
First, they sniffed eachother enthusiastically. Jiffy craned his neck as far out of his cage as he could...
Physics lesson 1: Puffy meet Jiffy = REPEL
Physics lesson 2: Puffy meet Jiffy = Potential energy (ready to attack!!)
Physics lesson 3: Metal is a SOLID, you can't break through it, even if your enemy is on the other side
Puffy is not very happy being suspended above his arch nemesis!!
"Put me down, ma! I need to fight him! He bit my TOE last time!"
and then I held them next to eachother and took THIS adoring photo...awwwwlook at how sweet they are!! Look at Puffy's half-white face!! Look at Jiffy's white belly!!
Don't be fooled by these sweet faces...once I let go, they're ready to LASH OUT at eachother!!!!
Did everyone see Jiffy wriggle the slightest?
Ack! They smell eachother!
I was hoping I could fool them into thinking they were friends...
Instead of foes.....
Foes confirmed! See Puffy's whiskers jutting out!! See the hair on Jiffy's back stand up!!
Oh dear..look at Puffy's mouth. His teeth are barred! Jiffy's claws are out!!
argh...I guess they're still foes for now
Look at Puffy....so peaceful and gentle around the girls....
FIFA World Cup for humans, FIFA Hay Cube for the pigs!
This is the latest news in Puffy's life. As you all know, Puffy is the doormat of the household. His two wives like to step all over him, push him away from the food bowl, nudge him off their favourite snuggle spot, and generally bump into him "accidentally on purpose" in their daily waddles about the cage. Poor Puffy is constantly knocked off his balance and sometimes right off the second floor.
But today..Puffy made some progress in establishing his MACHO status!!
So Puffy was enjoying his yummy alfalfa hay cube...and Snowy has some ideas on the other side
yikes! She's stolen the hay cube! Right through the bars!
Puffy was disoriented for a moment.
"Who took my hay cube?!"
"I want my hay cube back!"
omg! I can't believe this! Puffy stole the hay cube!! He even turned onto the other side to enjoy it alone. Poor Snowy.....
later on in the day...Puffy was resting on his trusty pink cushion, and Snowy wants the spot!
Snowy telling Puffy to take a hike!
Snowy pauses to scratch herself, lol, so cute! look at her feet!!
Snowy standing up. She insists!!
Puffy gives a FEROCIOUS roar, (rofl) and tells Snowy he's not backing off this time! Snowy got scared away...she retreated into the box...
Puffy lifts his head up HIGH, struts his stuff and lets Snowy know he's the boss now.
(probably not for long though..., especially when that "roar" was actually a yawn....and Snowy didn't exactly get "scared off", she just changed her mind and went for the box instead. Shh...she says Puffy stinks)
okay everyone, do not tell Puffy what I just wrote, okay? He's just starting to gain some self confidence....we don't want to damage his self esteem, do we? look at that pitiful sihouette....let's not hurt his feelings...
"mommy, I think I have some authority in this house now! You proud?"
A busy afternoon for all...
Today, I spent the whole afternoon pampering my pigs.
I received my order from Gorgeousguineas.com, who sells an assortment of aromatherapy products specially formulated for piggies!! First, I diluted the Buzz Off Concentrate, which is a guinea pig friendly bug repellent. Hong Kong is humid and hot these months, and without the AC on, some bugs have been hovering around our piggy cages, yikes! The instruction said you can spray inside the guinea pigs' living quarters, but take the piggies out and put them back at least 30 minutes later. So I put my pigs in a cardboard box for an hour...
talk about crowded living quarters....Puffy is wedge into the corner..look at that cute little button nose!!
"Ma, I wanna go back to the cage!"
Puffy turns his head around hopefully...
"back to cage time?"
Puffy getting bored. Looks like they're in for a loooonng wait.
this is what the cage looks like while I was waiting for the bug repellent to disperse. New teddy bear fleece alll spread out.
this is Shirley, Snoopy and JIffy's cage waiting to dry....Hello kitty gives a nice girly vibe for Jiffy
and Buggy and PJ's cage. Look at that beautiful grassy green fleece!!
once I put them back in their cages, they promptly hung up there "DO NOT DISTURB" signs.
This is what a piggy who does NOT want to be bothered looks like
Shylie ain't in a mood for cuddles today. Especially after being cramped in such a small cardboard box for an hour
"nap time mommy!"
can you all tell which one is Jiffy and which one is Shirley?
and finally here is Snoopy back in her newly cleaned cage. See how PLUMP she is? Like her mama.
The pigs were hungry, so fresh veggies are readily and dutifully served
wow...aren't they eating machines.......
PJ always has a red eye
After veggies, they demanded for their dry pellets! Sigh...these pigs keep you on your toes...
Puffy hears pellet jars! He comes rushing down the stairs...look at that white streak of hair, lol
See how hungry our puffy baby is? He couldn't wait! So he stuck his head between the jars and started gobbling up pellets before I even finished filling up each bowl...see what a tight fit it is for his little body, haha. Shylie and Snowy are too fat to fit.
Okay now that they exhausted themselves filling up their piggy tumtums...they retreat somewhere comfy for a NAP
look at that beautiful face. Shiley has beautiful big black eyes, like her mommy....
Here's the mommy!! Peekaboo!
