Veggie time for my babies!
Piggies are irresistable to us, as veggies as irresistable to them!
Snowy is a PRO at standing up, perpendicular to ground level, to reach her leafy greens.
Shylie hasn't quite mastered the art yet so she can only watch longingly...since the rule is, if you can't stand, you can't eat.
Snowy stretching even higher!
Shylie can't stand the temptation. She can't watch anymore.
This is Puffy all full and happy after his veggie buffet. I love to watch my piggies pick a comfy spot out and just stretch out after eating their veggies.
The girls were NOT impressed that they were fed ROCKS for dinner...
Wheeks of protest was heard...
"What the poop is this?!"
So I dutifully gave them their proper food
Snoopy demonstrates how she got her "stand up for parsley" genes from her mom
This is one of my favourite photos: Snoopy stood up so far that she lost her balance and fell backwards! See how she is just about to land on her butt? Her feet are in the air already!
Shirley gives it a go too...
Make your own rooting box!
Hi everyone! I made my piggies a rooting box today, for instructions, please go to Enhancing Life page
Here is a photo of what it looks like placed inside the cage. (also introducing my Doraemon Fleece)
At first, my pigs don't know what it was, and when I placed them inside, they didn't even "root" around! I felt so deflated. And then I had this idea to put the box right at the foot of the stairs, so that when piggies go up and down from the ramp, they must go past the rooting box first! I can't say they are thrilled about this latest addition to their cage, but I did find lots of poopies in there, which means they have been doing some toilet business to say the least...
A day in the life of Puffy!
Here is the latest events in the life of PUFFY:
He was taking a nap on the second floor as usual, next to his trusty litter box (which he never uses)and his 2 faithful poopies
Then he got a little restless and changed positions....
Then he popped his head out the 2nd floor opening and wondered whether he should go down for some munchy hay?
But then he really didn't want to move his puffy little butt, so he decided to try out the steely cage bars and see if that will satisfy his hunger....clack clackitty clack clack...
Sigh, it's no good. Down he goes...(sorry for the red eye)
Plops into the rooting box...
Looks out for a moment, locating direction of hay.
Up onto the platform!
Munchy munch munch! (that's Oxbow Botanical hay, does that sound fancy or what?)
Shylie soon comes over and joins her petite cagemate, by the way, she shoved Puffy right off that platform she's standing on right now
Shylie finished eating hay and went off to do her hair, and Puffy is left slightly disorientated back on his platform
So Puffy goes to find a comfy spot to stretch out after being ditched (once again)
Aw, look at this cute little face. He's so pathetic he doesn't even know how to use a cozy house....
"What's that? I'm supposed to sleep inside? Not beside it?"
"let me check this thing out again..."
"I think I'm getting warmer..."
"oh wowie! I even got a lady sleeping next to me... score!"
"oh well...at least I scored for 10 seconds...." *sulks*
That's it for today, stay tuned for future episodes of our piggy family
News: Jiffy is neutered and waiting to move in with the ladies!
There is another piece of news....Jiffy has been neutered! I felt too sorry for him as he was kept in his own cage, since he doesn't get along with any male. I'll post some photos later....
Our poor Jiffy sulks around by himself in his lonely cage all day, I couldn't bare to see him like that, he's so miserable, he doesn't even eat the veggies! His neuter cost $450HKD and the vet says he needs to stay isolated for 2 more weeks for recovery and to ensure any remaining sperms have "died" inside him. Just 3 more days for our Jiffy!
The Piggies' newly modified cage!
I made some modifications to our piggies' cage!
Here are the latest updates on the 3 by 4 cage, and the 2 by 3 bunk bed cage:
Original 3 by 4 cage:
This is a 3 by 4 cage with a 1 by 3 second level.
I put a shelf on the corner of the other side against the wall, so I can place my fleece up there.
Here we have Shylie half way hopping into her rooting box. Note the one foot on the ground...lol
And...THE NEW ADDITION!! anyone see the difference? the major difference?
1) there is a 1 by 3 second floor opposite on the other side too
2) a "sky bridge" connects the 2 second floors
The green/yellow coroplast compartment on the left is another bedroom living area. There are cozy houses and straw houses there to keep them comfortable.
The blue coroplast compartment on the right is the hay area, they come up here for fresh hay!
Here we have Snowy crossing the bridge to the other side. I call this their little retreat, since it's peaceful and quiet. Not to mention comfy
Puffy and Snowy investigate this new section of their home.
Puffy starts to cross the bridge..
Puffy crossing the bridge in a blurry hurry
Onto the other side!! look at that puffy little butt...whats the hurry?
I also modified Snoopy and Shirley's bunk bed cage, it used to look like this:
A 2 x 3 cage with a 1 x 2 upper level
Now it looks like this!
Instead of a 1 x 2 second floor, I've turned it into a 1 x 4 L shaped second floor! They love it!
